Reporting
Surgical pathology, dermatopathology and cytopathology: Most cases are reported within 2 days of receipt by our laboratory. Results may be delayed up to 5 days in cases requiring decalcification, additional tissue processing or special stains.

Microbiology: A preliminary report with gram stain results is provided within 24 hours of sample receipt.  Final results (ID & susceptibility testing) in 36-72 hours for most bacterial cultures.  Fungal cultures and slow-growing bacterial cultures: updates weekly; negative cultures held up to 4 weeks.

Urinalysis & fecal parasite exams:  reported same day as receipt

Necropsy: A preliminary report is provided within 24 hours of post-mortem examination. Final reports take up to 3 weeks for completion. 

All reports are faxed and/or e-mailed, according to stated preferences.

Billing
Accounts are invoiced monthly and charges are payable upon receipt.  Invoices are delivered via US mail or e-mail. Please make payments by check to SpecialtyVETPATH.
 

What's new?

  • SpecialtyVETPATH is now accepting cases for cytopathology (air dried slides and fluid samples). Available services include cytopathology, dermatopathology, surgical pathology, microbiology, parasitology, urinalysis, and necropsy.
